My order of cocktail supplies from Kegworks came today!!!! Things like different bitters are very hard to come by here, and in particular I wanted to have Peychaud’s and orange bitters for making cocktails. I could have made them, but to get maximum flavour out of the end product, you really should use a grain alcohol like everclear — hard to come by here in BC. Turns out it would have cost about 3X as much to make my own, so I ordered online.
I ended up getting three different orange bitters, for comparison — they really are all quite different in taste profile. I also got some orange water, a heavy duty bar spoon, some spoons that double as straws, and a julep strainer. I’m all set now for Sazeracs, old-school martinis and mint juleps!
Oh, and I also got a bunch of covered containers for making jello-shots. I’m going to try experimenting with unflavoured gelatin, and see if I can create some “gourmet” jello shots.
