We are blessed with an abundance of great food opportunities here in Victoria, BC, and every once in while, food and community come together and create something special. This weekend, one such event — Fernwood Bites — is taking place.

Fernwood Bites is a food festival organized to help give back to the neighbourhood — proceeds from the event go towards supporting the many community community activities delivered through the Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group.

  • Where: Fernwood Square (1284 Gladstone Avenue)
  • When: Sunday, June 26th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Cost: $45 per ticket (includes HST)
  • Tickets are available for purchase online at Fernwood Bites tickets or at the Cornerstone Cafe (1301 Gladstone Avenue)

The full list of participating restaurants is listed on the Fernwood Bites website, and includes some Victoria eateries and coffee houses that I’m excited about such as  The Parsonage, Wildfire, Charelli’s Cheese Shop, Discovery Coffee, Hilary’s Cheese, Sea Cider and Silk Road, just to name a few.

As if that weren’t enough, the folks at Fernwood Bites have just announced that in addition to libations from Victoria Spirits and a few local wineries, Victoria’s newest up and coming distiller, Maxwell James Spirits will also be making an appearance to talk about their progress.

I’ll be there on Sunday checking out the array of food and beverages (this is an adults-only event!) .  Hope to see you there!
